In seventh-century Ireland, Sister Fidelma investigates the brutal murders of an abbess--who is the niece of the Ui Fidgente warlord Conri--and one of the abbey's senior scholars as well as the disappearance of six young nuns, events that may be connected to the mysterious "Master of Souls" stirring up trouble in the countryside.
