Paper 1: Describes the engineering soil survey and the research techniques and methods which were applied in the preparation of the engineering oil maps. Paper 2: Covers a statistical method of correlation used in a pilot study conducted in order to make engineering soils data available from a pedological map of Fayette County, KY. Paper 3: Aerial photographs have been used in Maine in the following types of highway location studies: preliminary cost estimates for portions of the interstate system, detailed study of proposed route locations, and relocation studies for secondary roads. Paper 4: Geology, aerial photographic interpretation, and geophysics are described as a research unit for the reconnaissance and exploration of sand and gravel deposits situated in an economically important location to the interstate highway system in North Dakota.
