Pawel Althamer

Time and again Pawel Althamer questions the limits of the art industry with his self-reflective or socially engaged work and initiates collective activities, which stimulate alternative practise and set creative and communicative processes in motion. Drawing on three major exhibitions held in the Ludwig Forum in 1992, 2010, and 2014, this catalogue documents Althamer's approach and way of working across more than two decades. The essential aspects of his projects are elaborated in five essays and an interview: play, participative practise, and multiple authorship.
